The City of Tangent has opened filing for the City of Tangent Municipal Election, which will take place on November 5, 2024. Filing opened on Monday, June 3, and will close on August 2, 2024, at 4:00 PM. Candidate may download or pick up a filing form at City Hall during normal business hours. All filing must have either the Candidate Signature Sheet with 25 signatures or a $10 filing fee.
Elected Positions Up for Election:
Mayor: A two year term which covers 2025 through the 2026 calendar year.
Council Position 1: A four year term which covers 2025 through the 2028 calendar year.
Council Position 2: A four year term which covers 2025 through the 2028 calendar year.

The City of Tangent Municipal Election is Nonpartisan. So listing a party affiliation is not required.
Qualification of Officers
Per the Tangent City Charter (TCC) Section 16, No person shall be eligible for an elective office or the city unless at the time of the election (11/5/24) the person is a qualified elector within the meaning of the state constitution and has resided in the city during the twelve months immediately preceding the election. The council shall be the final judge of qualification and election of its own members.
Per TCC Section 15, no council member or mayor shall receive compensation for services, but may be reimbursed for authorized expenses.
City Hall Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. through 4:00 P.M. and may close early on Friday due to staff availability.
