The City of Tangent is aware of a serious incident in which two dogs attacked a resident walking her two dogs on the sidewalk in front of City Hall. The owner of the two small dogs was also injured, along with a couple of bystanders who interveined to break up the attack.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office responded and issued a citation.
The City of Tangent has an ordinance requiring all dogs to be on a leash in any city park. This includes Bass Estate Park at City Hall. The City Council and Mayor have been informed of the incident. They will consider ordinances, such as leash laws, for dogs on the right-of-way (sidewalks, paths, or walking along the road), as well as other related measures.
Please ensure your pets or livestock are fenced and secure. We have received calls regarding chickens near the road, dogs running onto private property, and lost pets.
